Is there a weight limit for the baby Bumbo Seat?
I was thinking of buying a Bumbo Seat for my son, who is almost 6 months old, to help him learn to sit up.
However, when I started researching it I found the weight limit is 22 lbs (but some sites say it really just depends on the SIZE of the baby, and that some babies can use it up to 14 months).
Well, my son is almost 19 lbs already. I don't really want to spend $50 on something he won't be able to use more than a few months.
My question is.. FOR YOU MOMMIES WHO HAVE BUMBOS.. how long did it take for your baby to get to big to use it?
I would say that its the size of the baby that matters most. The leg holes aren't terribly big so if your baby has chubby legs then it might be a tight fit.
Our son learned to sit on his own around 5.5 months old and we stopped using the bumbo shortly after that. He was starting to figure out ways to get out of it (arching his back and falling out backwards) so it was just more trouble than it was worth. It was GREAT early on though.
If you're trying to help your son learn to sit up you might use a boppy pillow if you've got one. Just sit it behind him to give some extra support and a soft cushion for landing. Thats what we used for our son.
